Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)
Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) reagents are the prepared acid and catalyst solutions used to measure the oxygen demand of water and wastewater samples. Effluent, environmental and water treatment laboratories use them for routine COD determinations.
Every product in this section is made by Reagecon. Listings include the 1977 Method Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) Reagent, 1% w/v silver sulphate in sulphuric acid as the catalyst solution, and 20% w/v mercury (II) sulphate in 10% w/v sulphuric acid for masking chloride interference. Several products appear in more than one pack size, so the same solution can be bought for a single run or for a busy testing schedule.
To select the right reagent, start from the COD method your laboratory follows and note which catalyst and masking solutions it specifies. Match the concentration on the label exactly, as COD methods are sensitive to reagent strength. Request a quotation if you need a regular supply.
