SB-C2
Among the shorter alkyl chains in the HPLC Columns range, SB-C2 columns use the Vintage Chrom Vintage Sorb C2 phase, an ethyl-bonded silica. They suit chromatographers separating strongly hydrophobic compounds that would be retained too long on a C8 or C18.
All 28 columns are packed with 10 µm particles and come in 125 x 4 mm or 125 x 4.6 mm dimensions, with a choice of 60 Å or 100 Å pore size. Because the C2 ligand is short, retention is low, run times are brief, and mobile phases with a modest organic content can be used.
Pick the 4.6 mm bore where your method was developed on that standard diameter, and the 4 mm bore to reduce solvent consumption at a similar linear velocity. Large or very hydrophobic molecules are the usual candidates for a C2 chemistry, particularly on the wider 100 Å pore. Lancetech Limited is happy to quote any SB-C2 column or answer a method question.
