Osmolality Standards
Osmolality standards are aqueous reference solutions with a defined osmolality, used to calibrate osmometers. Clinical, pharmaceutical and research laboratories use them to verify instrument readings before measuring samples.
Reagecon supplies the 26 listed values, from 0 mOsm/Kg up to 1000 and 1100 mOsm/Kg, with intermediate points such as 100 mOsm/Kg. A zero standard gives a baseline check, while the higher values cover concentrated solutions and extend the verified range of the instrument.
Choose a pair of standards that bracket your sample range, commonly a low and a high point, and add a mid-range value for linearity checks. Osmolality standards sit in the Physicochemical section alongside the cryoscope and density ranges. Lancetech Limited can quote other osmolality values on request.
