NAPP-C8
NAPP-C8 covers the Vintage Chrom Nappa C8 reversed-phase HPLC columns. Clinical, pharmaceutical and food laboratories use an octyl phase to shorten run times and improve peak shape for compounds that are strongly retained on C18.
The 54 listings use 100 Å silica with C8 bonding in 3 µm, 5 µm and 10 µm particle sizes, in formats such as 125 × 4 mm and 125 × 4.6 mm. In the Nappa family, C8 sits between the C18(2) and C5 phases, giving intermediate hydrophobicity on the same silica and pore structure so that selectivity comparisons are straightforward.
For method development, run C8 and C18(2) columns of the same dimensions under one gradient and compare spacing of the critical pairs. Choose the 3 µm packing for resolution and 10 µm for semi-preparative work. Lancetech Limited will quote any Nappa C8 column on request.
