Ionic Strength Adjusters

Ionic Strength Adjusters are the buffer solutions added to samples and standards before an ion selective electrode measurement. They are used in water, environmental and food laboratories wherever ISE methods are run.

The ten Reagecon solutions here are ion-specific. The 10M NaOH ionic strength adjuster is used for ammonia electrodes, the 5M NaNO₃ solution for chloride electrodes, and TISAB 3 for fluoride determinations, with TISAB 3 available in more than one pack size. Each is formulated to fix the ionic strength and pH of the sample so that the electrode responds to the ion concentration alone.

Select the adjuster that matches the electrode and the ion you are measuring, and add it to calibration standards and samples in the same ratio.
