Caps & septa
Caps & septa are the closures that seal chromatography vials before they go into an HPLC or GC autosampler. Analytical chemists in pharmaceutical, environmental and contract testing laboratories choose them to match the vial neck and the solvent being injected.
All 211 listings in this section are Macherey-Nagel. The range includes N 8 aluminium crimp caps with a centre hole and red rubber/FEP septa, and N 9 polypropylene screw caps with bonded septa in silicone/PTFE or red rubber/TEF, in plain and slit versions. Septum hardness and thickness are given on each listing, with 1.0 mm and 1.3 mm options and hardness from 45 to 65 Shore A, supplied in packs of 100.
To choose, start with the vial neck size, then pick a crimp or screw closure to suit your crimping tools and workflow. Consider the septum material against the solvent in use, and choose a slit septum where repeated needle penetration is expected in automated runs. Lancetech Limited can quote vial caps and septa on request.
