NAPP-PHX

NAPP-PHX is the Vintage Chrom Nappa Phenyl Hexyl section of our HPLC columns. Pharmaceutical and flavour chemists use phenyl hexyl phases for aromatic compounds, where the combination of a hexyl spacer and a phenyl ring provides both hydrophobic and pi-pi retention.

The 54 listings use 100 Å silica with phenyl hexyl bonding in 3 µm, 5 µm and 10 µm particle sizes, offered in 125 mm lengths with 4 mm or 4.6 mm internal diameters. The hexyl linker gives more hydrophobic retention than a short phenyl ligand, so the column behaves closer to C8 for aliphatic compounds while still separating aromatics by ring substitution.

Methanol mobile phases usually strengthen phenyl selectivity, so include them in screening. Use 3 µm for isomer work and 10 µm where loading matters. Lancetech Limited will quote Nappa Phenyl Hexyl columns in any listed format.
