SB-C8 columns from Vintage Chrom sit between the C2 and C18 chemistries in the HPLC Columns range. The Vintage Sorb C8 octyl phase gives moderate reversed-phase retention, which analysts in pharmaceutical and chemical laboratories use to shorten runs without losing selectivity.

Twenty-eight columns are listed here, every one packed with 10 µm particles. Choose 125 x 4 mm or 125 x 4.6 mm and either a 60 Å or 100 Å pore; the 60 Å material offers higher surface area for small, neutral molecules while the 100 Å version handles a broader molecular weight range.

A C8 column is a sensible first choice when a C18 method gives excessively long retention for hydrophobic analytes, or when a less retentive phase is needed to elute compounds with a weaker organic mobile phase.
