SB-SI

SB-SI columns are packed with Vintage Chrom Vintage Sorb Silica, an unbonded silica for normal-phase HPLC. They belong to the HPLC Columns range and suit chemists separating isomers, lipids and similar compounds in non-polar mobile phases.

This section holds 28 columns, each 125 mm long with 10 µm particles. Two internal diameters, 4 mm and 4.6 mm, are combined with 60 Å and 100 Å pores. The 10 µm silica is a practical choice for flash-style clean-up, for scouting normal-phase conditions and for separations that will later be scaled up.

Compare SB-SI with the finer 3 µm materials in the Silica section when efficiency rather than capacity is the priority. Bare silica is sensitive to the water content of the mobile phase, so consistent solvent preparation matters more here than with bonded phases.
