The UNS-C4 section of the HPLC Columns range covers Vintage Chrom Vintage Uniformity Secure C4, a butyl-bonded 100 Å silica. Analysts pick a C4 of this kind for hydrophobic compounds and peptides that need gentler retention than a C8 or C18 provides.

The 94 listings include 125 x 4 mm and 125 x 4.6 mm columns in 3.5 µm, 5 µm and 10 µm particle sizes, all on the same 100 Å pore. Having three particle sizes on one phase makes it simple to run a method at 5 µm for routine use and switch to 3.5 µm when resolution needs a lift.

Unlike the 300 Å wide-pore C4 in the UN-C4 section, this 100 Å material is intended for smaller peptides and hydrophobic small molecules rather than intact proteins.
