MV-C4
MV-C4 features the Vintage Chrom Maverick C4 reversed-phase HPLC columns, a short-chain butyl phase. Biochemistry and protein laboratories, along with analysts handling very hydrophobic small molecules, use C4 columns when C18 and C8 phases retain compounds for too long.
The 94 listings are built on 100 Å silica with C4 bonding and come in 3 µm, 5 µm and 10 µm particle sizes, in 125 mm lengths with 4 mm or 4.6 mm internal diameters. The butyl ligand offers the weakest hydrophobic retention in the Maverick line, so analytes elute at lower organic content and run times shorten for strongly retained compounds.
A C4 column is worth trialling when peaks tail or elute late on longer alkyl phases, and when gradients must stay gentle to protect labile compounds. Pick the finer particle sizes for analytical resolution. Lancetech Limited will quote any Maverick C4 configuration on request.
