Flash chromatography is the preparative purification technique synthetic chemists use to isolate reaction products on pre-packed silica cartridges under moderate pressure. Medicinal chemistry, natural products and process development laboratories run flash chromatography daily.

Size the cartridge to the crude mass you need to purify and the separation difficulty, with larger silica loads for bigger batches or closely eluting compounds.
