Cyano HPLC columns use a nitrile-bonded silica that works in both normal-phase and reversed-phase modes, making them one of the most versatile phases for method development. With 470 listings, this is one of the largest sections in the HPLC Columns catalogue.

The Vintage Chrom cyano range includes Bond Cyano, Bond Cyano BD and Bond Cyano MU. Sample listings show 125 × 4 mm, 3 µm columns with pores from 60 Å to 300 Å: the BD variant on 60 Å silica, the MU variant on 120 Å, and the base phase on 100 Å and 300 Å.

In reversed-phase use, a cyano column gives much lower retention than C18 and different selectivity for polar and aromatic compounds; in normal phase it is a milder alternative to bare silica. Pick the pore size by analyte size and the variant by your existing method. Questions about a cyano separation are welcome.
