SB-NH
Aminopropyl-bonded silica is the chemistry behind the SB-NH columns in the HPLC Columns range, sold as Vintage Chrom Vintage Sorb Amino. Food, beverage and pharmaceutical analysts use amino phases for carbohydrate separations and for normal-phase work where a basic surface improves peak shape.
Twenty-eight SB-NH columns are available, all 125 mm long and packed with 10 µm particles. Select a 4 mm or 4.6 mm internal diameter and a 60 Å or 100 Å pore. The 10 µm packing keeps back pressure low, which is useful for routine sugar analysis where throughput matters more than ultimate efficiency.
An amino column also serves as a weak anion exchanger and as a polar alternative to cyano and diol phases, so it is worth considering wherever a reversed-phase C18 fails to retain small polar analytes. Lancetech Limited will quote any SB-NH configuration on request.
