UN-C4

UN-C4 columns bring a short butyl chain to the HPLC Columns range. The Vintage Chrom Vintage Uniformity C4 phase is widely used by biochemists and bioanalytical laboratories for proteins, large peptides and other hydrophobic biomolecules that bind too strongly to C18.

With 188 listings, the section offers 3 µm and 5 µm particles on either 100 Å or 300 Å silica, in formats such as 125 x 4 mm. The 300 Å pore is the natural pairing for intact proteins and larger peptides; the 100 Å pore is kept for smaller peptides and hydrophobic small molecules where a C4 selectivity is still wanted.

When developing a protein method, start with the 300 Å, 5 µm column for robustness, then move to 3 µm if resolution between closely related variants is insufficient. Pair with the UN-C8 and UN-C18 phases for a selectivity screen. Lancetech Limited is happy to quote any UN-C4 column.
